Mason Greenwood will spend his third night in prison while cops question him about new crimes – with Man United issuing a statement criticizing “violence of any kind”.

The 20-year-old attacker has already spent two nights locked up after cops pounced on the rape and GBH allegations on Sunday morning.

And now, police have been given more time to speak to Greenwood after their two additional arrests on suspicion of sexual assault and death threats.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that they have now until tomorrow for the player’s competition.

Greenwood has been suspended indefinitely from United following his arrest on Sunday.

In a statement tonight, the club said: “Manchester United reiterates its strong condemnation of violence of any kind.

“As previously stated, Mason Greenwood will not train with or play for the club until further notice.”

A statement issued by the force read: “Investigators were given more time to speak to a man in his twenties who was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault on a woman.

“The suspect was arrested on Sunday afternoon after we became aware of photos and videos on social media posted by a woman talking about incidents of physical violence.

“Following investigations so far, he has been arrested again on suspicion of sexual assault and death threat.

“Inquiries are ongoing and specialized support continues to be provided to the victim.

“We remind people to avoid any comment or sharing of photos that could jeopardize the victim’s right to anonymity for life or risk direct investigation through active actions.”

Security staff – believed to have been provided by his club – were present at a second home he owned nearby and confirmed his parents were inside.

Earlier today, Greenwood was removed from the Manchester United squad in FIFA 22 following his arrest.

Greenwood was also removed from the Manchester United squad list for the game, after the club removed any merchandise bearing his name from their website.

Official club partner Cadbury said Greenwood will not appear in any of its marketing products.

Sponsor TeamViewer also announced that they are “closely monitoring developments.”

Sportswear giant Nike, which supplies striker shoes, has suspended its sponsorship of the star.

“We have suspended our relationship with Mason Greenwood,” the brand said in a statement.

“We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to monitor the situation closely,” he added.

Greenwood has worn Nike boots since joining United’s first team in 2019.

He was suspended indefinitely by his club after his arrest.

Several of his teammates also unfollowed the star on social media after the photos surfaced.

The Premier League club initially said it “does not condone violence of any kind” and later suspended the £75,000-a-week star as a police investigation began.

A club spokesman said: “Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice.”

The photos and allegations reportedly appeared on the woman’s Instagram on Sunday morning, but have since been deleted.
