SAN LANDRO (CBSSF) – A 3.2-magnitude earthquake, with its epicenter near Chabot Lake and I-580, struck across East Bay on Sunday afternoon, causing a severe tremor but no further damage.
The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at 3:53 p.m. in a neighborhood near Middleton Street in San Leandro.
There were no initial reports of any damage from the earthquake being felt in San Francisco and throughout the East Bay, but it did cause some minor delays in BART.

“An earthquake was felt within the area served by BART,” the agency said in an email. “Trains are running at low speeds while we complete track inspections. Please expect 10 to 15 system-wide delays remaining.”
Most people on social media described the earthquake as a short tremor. The strength of the tremor depends on how close you are to the epicenter.
“Our old 1942 house in San Leandro shook hard like hell. 3.2, I felt a slight wobble, I knew it was coming, and then it shook hard,” Christopher Fawzy posted on Twitter.
“It felt like a 4.x, but it was also very short, about two seconds or so,” Mario Fisher wrote.
“Interesting, it was 3.2 but in San Leandro that’s why I felt strong in East Bay,” Supmiguel wrote.
