Gary Lineker cannot believe Leicester City decision as West Ham man makes telling admission

[ad_1]

Like many Leicester City fans, Gary Lineker “cannot believe” West Ham’s equaliser stood on Sunday evening.

Defender Craig Dawson got on the end of a 91st-minute corner and appeared to direct the ball into the net with his arm.

However, after the briefest of checks from video assistant referee Chris Kavanagh, the goal stood and West Ham took a point from the game with a 2-2 draw.

Many Leicester supporters were left confused by the decision – and that included City legend Lineker.

“Still cannot believe it wasn’t given as handball,” Lineker wrote on Twitter.

“Dawson knew it went in off his arm by his reaction in the post match interview. One of those spells where everything is going wrong.”

The Dawson reaction Lineker referred to was most telling, with the 31-year-old admitting he was “worried” the goal would be ruled out.

“We were working hard to get the goal and luckily enough it went in,” he told Sky Sports after the final whistle.

“I was slightly worried but it counted and that’s all that matters. It’s something we work hard on. It was a fair point for us today.”
