Manchester City will be aiming to make it five wins on the bounce on Saturday when they take on Tottenham Hotspur.
City come into the match against Spurs — against whom they lost on the opening day of the season — fresh off the back of a 5-0 demolition of Sporting in the Champions League last-16 first leg.
Liverpool both closed the gap on Pep Guardiola’s side before kick-off with a 3-1 win over Norwich City, in the 3pm kick-offs. So three points against Spurs are vital for City to maintain their cushion at the league’s summit.
The Blues are without Jack Grealish, Gabriel Jesus, Cole Palmer and Zack Steffen for the match with Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker all in the starting XI. Harry Kane starts for Tottenham against the team who tried to sign him in the summer.
City XI: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo, Rodrigo, Gundogan (C), Bernardo, Sterling, De Bruyne, Foden.
Subs: Carson, Stones, Ake, Zinchenko, Fernandinho, Mahrez, Delap, McAtee, Lavia.
Spurs XI: Lloris, Romero, Dier, Davies, Emerson Royal, Bentancur, Sessegnon, Højbjerg, Kulusevski, Son, Kane.
Subs: Lucas Moura, Sánchez, Gollini, Bergwijn, Winks, Doherty, Scarlett, White, Rodon.

City in unusual position
Adversity brings the best out of the Etihad crowd – too often when City are winning the crowd can subside into a hypnotic state.
But since that Spurs goal they have been loud and supportive, playing a full part in City rallying and starting to look much more like it.

Home fans getting restless
Some restlessness from the home fans, both at the amount of time Tottenham are taking to restart play and at the lack of progress City are making at unlocking the Spurs defence. Guardiola watches on from the edge of his dugout but doesn’t look overly concerned at the minute.

City were expecting offside flag
This makes things interesting as Kane and Son combine in devastating fashion again. City look a little startled by what has just happened – they were expecting offside but Dias was playing Son on. So used to taking the lead in the Premier League, this is a real test now.

Speaking on Sky Sports:
I try to move, the guys who were playing Portugal, it’s not easy to drop John, Riyad, what a player because they were fantastic.

City victory would be a good omen
Every year City have beaten Spurs at home under Guardiola they’ve won the league, and every year they haven’t they haven’t.
For the more superstitious City fans out there, it will be seen as a good omen if the Blues get three points tonight.
