A stretch of the M6 motorway has been closed following a serious collision this morning. National Highways said the southbound carriageway is shut between J4 (M42) and J3a (M6 Toll).
Rush-hour traffic is being affected. More disruption is expected throughout the morning.
Taking to Twitter, National Highways in West Midlands posted: “The #M6 is closed southbound between J4 (M42) and J3a (M6 Toll) due to a serious collision. More information to follow.”
It comes after after a man died in a crash following police pursuit on the M6 over the weekend. Staffordshire Police said he was in a stationary traffic management vehicle when a car collided into it between junction 14 at Stafford and 15 for Stoke-on-Trent.
