An earthquake has been recorded in Adelaide this morning with multiple reports of people feeling shaking and rumbling.

A magnitude 3.8 earthquake hit Adelaide early on Sunday morning, with thousands of people reporting the tremor.

Geoscience Australia confirmed the quake was recorded near Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills at 7.20 am local time.

A magnitude 2.5 aftershock was recorded at 9am around the same area.

While there have been reports of some minor damage in Adelaide Hills, the quake did not cause any serious damage.

Adelaideans took to social media to report feeling a “wobble” or windows rattling.

The shock was felt across Adelaide, from Gepps Cross and Kensington, to Ascot Park, Semaphore, Victor Harbor and Kersbrook.

Some users reported the tremor was felt as far away as Murray Bridge, 78 km southeast of the state’s capital city.

The Bureau of Meteorology said there was no tsunami threat to Australia following the shake.

The earthquake is the largest to be felt near Adelaide in a decade.

Another magnitude 3.8 earthquake was recorded in 2011 in Adelaide’s south.
