latest updates from Bahrain as Mercedes unveiling radical new look

[ad_1]

And welcome to our live coverage for the first day of the second pre-season test in Bahrain. Technically Formula One would want to call this one the first pre-season test, calling the Barcelona event the pre-season track ‘session’, but let us have none of that nonsense at all.

The action gets under way very shortly, at 7am GMT and we will be here for all of it. These three days should tell us a little bit more about what is happening and the true(er) pecking order, with teams ramping up their runs after the first exploratory days in Spain a couple of weeks ago. We should also see a fairly significant amount of updates and upgrades from the teams, which will be interesting to follow. It looks like Mercedes have gone even more aggressive in their sidepod design.

One team who will not be out there at the start of the day is Haas, as they have experienced a freight delay. Not ideal given their difficult first test. The American-owned team have had a turbulent few weeks with their former Russian driver and former Russian sponsors. In short: both are out of the door and former Haas driver Kevin Magnussen has been confirmed as Nikita Mazepin’s replacement for 2022. I think almost everyone will be happy with that.

It was confirmed that Magnussen signed a multi-year contract with Haas to replace Mazepin and the Dane admitted his surprise at being offered a pathway back into Formula One.
