Suspect named after teen boy, 16, stabbed in church graveyard

Police have named a suspect connected to a stabbing of a teenag boy.

Officers were called to reports of a stabbing at Our Lady of Compassion Formby Parish, on School Lane, on Tuesday, March 8.

At the scene, in Formby, emergency services found a 16-year-old boy had suffered serious injuries after being stabbed.

The victim remains in hospital but is now described as being in a stable condition.

Merseyside police have confirmed that they have now charged an 18-year-old man in connection with the stabbing.

Sonny Collins, of Maple Close, Bootle, has been charged with robbery, possession of a bladed article and possession of a Class B drug.

He is due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court today, on Friday, March 11.

A Merseyside police spokesperson said: “We have charged an 18-year-old man following an incident in Formby on Tuesday (8 March) in which a 16-year-old boy was stabbed.

“Sonny Collins, of Maple Close, Seaforth has been charged with robbery, possession of a bladed article and possession of a Class B drug (cannabis).

“He has been remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court today (Friday 11 March).

“The 16-year-old remains in hospital in a stable condition.”
