Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on the title race

Mohamed Salah ‘s agent has taken to Twitter to respond to Jurgen Klopp ‘s claim that Liverpool “cannot do much more” in their offer of a new contract.

Ramy Abbas Issa, representative of the 29-year-old whose current deal expired in 15 months’ time, responded on social media by tweeting seven laughing emojis around 80 minutes after Klopp’s pre-match press conference had concluded.

The Reds boss was asked to give an update on Salah’s situation ahead of their trip to Brighton on Saturday, with Klopp declaring: “Mo definitely expects this club to be ambitious. We were in the last few years and we are.

“We cannot do much more, that’s how it is. But I don’t think it’s about that. It’s Mo’s decision pretty much. The club did what the club can do. That’s how it is.

Issa tweeted a rapid response to Klopp

“Nothing bad to say about it. It’s fine from my point of view. It’s exactly like it should be in this moment in time. Everything is set. Nothing happened further, no signing, no rejection or whatever.

“We just have to wait for that. It’s completely fine. No rush in that situation.”

Salah has stated that his demands to remain on Merseyside are not “crazy” and frequently expressed his desire to stay at Liverpool beyond June 2023.

“I want to stay, but it’s not in my hands. It’s in their hands. They know what I want. I’m not asking for crazy stuff,” the Egyptian told GQ in January, having reportedly asked for £300,000 per week.

“The thing is when you ask for something and they show you they can give you something (they should) because they appreciate what you did for the club.

“I’ve been here for my fifth year now. I know the club very well. I love the fans. The fans love me. But with the administration, they have (been) told the situation. It’s in their hands.”

For the time being though, Salah’s focus will be on bringing a win back to Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds remain six points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City and are bidding to keep pace with the champions.

Klopp also hinted his squad could be depleted for the match despite the return of Roberto Firmino, noting that the effects of Covid-19 are “not over.”

“We had a few little things but nobody is out of training,” the German confirmed. “On top of that, Covid is not over, so these things, we’ve had.

“We try everything to avoid but it’s not always possible. Players and staff have no symptoms but cannot be involved.”
