Ronaldo APOLOGISES for phone incident, United’s top four BLOW, Ruben Neves EXCLUSIVE

Morning, United fans

Erik ten Hag wants ‘100% control’ over transfers – and you can see why after yesterday’s 1-0 defeat at Everton.

Anthony Gordon’s deflected drive on 27 minutes left United seventh, three points off the top four, after another sub-standard display.

It comes amid claims Ten Hag would demand overseeing the Red Devils’ overall transfer policy, as well as individual ins-and-outs.

The Ajax chief last night refused to discuss ‘rumours’ of him becoming permanent Old Trafford boss.

But his arrival this summer is commonly regarded as a done deal.

And judging by yesterday’s lack of craft United might need a bigger squad overhaul than previously hoped.

Interim chief Ralf Rangnick said: “We should have created more chances out of that domination in the first 25 minutes.

“Then we conceded a deflected shot, a goal after a deflected shot, and after that lost a little bit of our composure and stride.

“Second half we tried to add more creativity… but didn’t always take the right decisions.”

Meanwhile, fit-again striker Cristiano Ronaldo apologised for his ‘outburst’ at a fan as he showed his frustration at Goodison Park.

The legend seemed to knock a supporter’s phone away but later posted: “It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments…

“Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.

“I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship.”

Finally, former Old Trafford assistant boss Rene Meulensteen claims Paul Pogba has failed to live up to expectations at United.
