Erik ten Hag’s upcoming job as manager of Manchester United looks like a bigger and bigger task with each passing match-week.

The Dutchman is likely to have watched last week’s 4-0 demolition at the hands of Brighton and may have already spotted some players he has no use for – in turn presenting the chance for some gaps in the Red Devils squad to be filled via the summer transfer window.

Barcelona Frenkie de Jong is the most prominent name currently being touted with a switch to Old Trafford, though boss Xavi Hernandez has already responded to those reports by claiming the former Ajax man remains a key part of his plans.

Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice are two players that have been previously tipped with a move to United, but while the former has nailed his colors to the Dortmund mast – Rice’s latest round of contract talks with West Ham stalled, potentially presenting United with a chance to swoop.

RB Leipzig defender Nordi Mukiele, tipped to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been mooted, as has renewed interest in Matthijs de Ligt and Villarreal defender Pau Torres. What would either mean for Harry Maguire, who got secretly married recently?

Stay tuned for all the latest news and developments on Manchester United’s transfer plans below.
