Kailua Kona (4 km S of epicenter) [Map] / Moderate shaking (MMI V) / 2-5 s : Felt like a car crashed or something exploded in my neighbor’s place. Seriously can’t believe this was only a 4.5. | One user found this interesting. Felt bigger to me too, at Kealakehe. This one had me running for the door.

Glass was making noise shaking around, ground was shaking LOUDLY, bed was moving. I thought I was going to die.

96704 (21.3 km SSE of epicenter) [Map] / Moderate shaking (MMI V) : Jolt followed by shaking. About 15 minutes before the quake, the fire alarm went off and I noticed an artwork was askew. I wondered if an earthquake had caused it though didn’t feel anything then.

Just Turn light out for bed / Moderate shaking (MMI V) / rattling, vibrating / 5-10 s : Turn light on after feeling moderate shaking and vibrating. Dresser drawers came open. Closet door came open.

Kaiminani Dr.,. Kailua Kona / Moderate shaking (MMI V) / horizontal (sideways) swinging : I felt a few earthquakes before, even that 6.9 years ago. But this one, really scared me, I screamed. A loud rumble, small objects falling, swinging side to side.it seems long. We are ok. No damage at the house.
