SEN. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go has returned to Samal Island to check on the living condition of its residents as he assured them of his continued public service.
The senator said he again visited the Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte on May 27, 2022 to provide them support “during these trying times.”
On May 24, Go’s team gave similar assistance to Samaleños from Barangay Bandera, Adecor and Sion.
Go said he had been to different parts of the country such as Batanes to help earthquake victims in Jolo, Sulu, to aid fire victims.
“That is my promise to Filipinos. As long as my time permits, I will visit you,” he added in a statement in Filipino.

“Samal is my second home. I love the people of Samal,” the senator said in his speech.
Go’s staff handed out grocery packs, vitamins, meals, and shirts to a total of 3,134 residents, consisting of fisherfolk, senior citizens, and indigents from the villages of San Isidro, Poblacion Kaputian and Libertad.
The activities were held at covered courts in compliance with health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Go also gave bicycles, tablets, watches, and shoes to select recipients while he also gave basketballs and volleyballs to select youth members to further encourage them to engage in sports.
He urged residents to get vaccinated against Covid-19 as he reached out to those who needed medical care.
They may avail of medical aid from the Malasakit centers at Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City or Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City.
The centers aim to make medical assistance programs by partnered agencies more accessible to poor and indigent patients by putting all relevant agencies under one roof.
The Malasakit Centers were institutionalized under Republic Act 11463, which Go principally authored and sponsored in the Senate.
President Rodrigo Duterte signed it into law in December 2019.
To date, there are 151 Malasakit Centers nationwide.
