Chatan (15.8 km E of epicenter) [Map] / Light shaking (MMI IV) / horizontal (sideways) swinging / 2-5 s: Heard a strange sound that could have been cracks forming in the concrete of our apartment. Then felt a very strong few shakes that moved objects on tables

Yomitan Okinawa (18 km NE of epicenter) [Map] / Light shaking (MMI IV) / single lateral shake / 1-2 s : Was laying in bed and started to hear what sounded like thunder. Then the house shook for a couple seconds then stopped. (reported through our app)

Camp Lester, Okinawa (16.6 km E of epicenter) [Map] / Light shaking (MMI IV): Our family (both members on the ground floor and upstairs) felt the ground shaking. Our tv swayed, doors rattled.

Okinawa (17 km E of epicenter) [Map] / Light shaking (MMI IV) / horizontal (sideways) swinging / 2-5 s : On couch, whole house wobbled for a bit. Had a single loose item fall of a shelf. Cats spooked a few seconds before hand. Could hear a dull roar build up before the shaking.

Gushikawa, Uruma Shi (26 km ENE of epicenter) [Map] / Light shaking (MMI IV) / horizontal (sideways) swinging / 2-5 s : Shook me in a sideways motion while sitting on the couch. It woke my son because his bed was shaking.

Chatan, Okinawa, Japan (15.6 km E of epicenter) [Map] / Light shaking (MMI IV) / horizontal (sideways) swinging / 10-15 s : I was sitting in bed and felt a sudden jolt and heard creaking and then the building moved around for about 10-15 seconds

Chatan Harbor / Moderate shaking (MMI V) / single lateral shake / 5-10 s : I live on the 10th floor apt building, heard and felt one fast shudder thru the building, followed by some swaying for about 10 seconds. no damage and nothing came off of shelves or out of cupboards

Naha / Light shaking (MMI IV) / single lateral shake / 2-5 s : Felt like the room was going sideways, which was quite a feat for such thick stone… A bunch of us left our apartments to check each other that we felt it

2nd floor of hotel / Weak shaking (MMI III) / rattling, vibrating / 20-30 s : I was sitting in my chair, playing Xbox and I felt shaking similar to as if a semi-truck was passing by really close. Nothing crazy, the cabinet door that was open rattled a little.

Chatan / Light shaking (MMI IV) / horizontal (sideways) swinging / 5-10 s : Heard loud sound outside before the earthquake started. There was a strong and slow side to side movement for about 10 seconds.

Kitanakagusuku / Light shaking (MMI IV) / both vertical and horizontal swinging / 20-30 s : I was in bed on the 2nd floor of my home (mostly concrete structure), I heard rumbling at first like a large truck passing by, then it got louder. It felt like my bed was moving both up and down, but also side to side. My flat screen TV was swaying forwar

Chatan, Okinawa / Light shaking (MMI IV) / rattling, vibrating / 5-10 s : Light shaking, woke me up. But I’m on the 6th floor of a high rise & rarely feel earthquakes unless they’re 4.0 or above when I’m here, as opposed to at work on the ground floor.

Sunabe / Weak shaking (MMI III) / single lateral shake / 1-2 s : Felt a immediate jolt that shook all of the items in the house for about 1-2 seconds. We are in the third floor of an apartment building and felt the building shake.

Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa / Light shaking (MMI IV) / rattling, vibrating / 2-5 s : We were just watching TV and we both felt it, our dogs started freaking out. Not gonna lie I thought there was a gas main explosion or something.
