Trent Alexander-Arnold is not included in England’s matchday squad as Gareth Southgate’s side prepare to face Germany at Wembley on Monday night.
Harry Maguire, however, is expected to keep his place at the heart of the England defense with his most regular partner, John Stones, due to return alongside him.
Sky Sports News has been told Southgate will continue with three centre-backs, though it’s unclear at this stage whether it will be Eric Dier or Kyle Walker paired with Maguire and Stones.

‘Maguire impressed Southgate despite shaky start’ Image: Harry Maguire has been supported by Gareth Southgate
Sky Sports News senior reporter Rob Dorsett:
“The England defence was heavily criticized in the aftermath of the 1-0 defeat to Italy on Friday night, but the England boss is understood to have been impressed by the way Maguire settled into the game, after a shaky first 20 minutes, despite not starting a Premier league match for Manchester United in six weeks.
“Southgate is determined to build Maguire’s confidence, give him game time, and convince him he’s a key part of the England team for the World Cup.
“Stones was suspended for the game in the San Siro, but is in line for an immediate return to the starting XI.
“The reuniting of Maguire and Stones is a sign that Southgate is returning to his most tried and trusted players, as he desperately seeks a morale-boosting win in England’s final game before the World Cup.
“Tomori, who some feel is England’s most in-form center back right now, isn’t even in the matchday 23, having not featured against Italy either.”
