Mexico City was rocked by the powerful 6.0-magnitude earthquake Sunday morning, sending residents into the streets. The US Geological Survey reported that the epicenter was located 4 km northwest of Coral Falso in the southern state of Guerrero.

Reuters news agency reported that “the US Geological Survey said the magnitude 6.0 quake occurred 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) west-northwest of El Teque in Guerrero state at a depth of 19.8 kilometers (12.3 miles).

At the moment, there are no reports of damage from the earthquake, and the President of Mexico has been seen running and tweeting various information about the earthquakes.

The first report is that it shuddered in the Costa Grande de Guerrero, in Tecpan, with a magnitude of 6. A civil protection plan is being applied. We will be informed soon,” Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador tweeted in Spanish.

Later, the president also released a video where he can be seen speaking to Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado in which she assured the president that there were no damages or injuries. Guerrero is sandwiched between Mexico’s Pacific coast between the beach resorts of Acapulco and Zihuatenejo.

Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that there were no reports of damage in the area.
