Denpasar, Indonesia (AFP) – A moderate-magnitude earthquake and two aftershocks have jolted the Indonesian island of Bali, causing panic but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The USGS said the 4.9-magnitude quake was centered 22 miles north of Amlapura. Its shallow depth of 6 miles may have caused people to flee outside. Many residents and tourists rushed from their homes and hotels towards higher ground, but the situation returned to normal after they received text messages stating that the earthquake was not likely to cause a tsunami. A 5.6-magnitude earthquake on November 21 killed at least 331 people and injured nearly 600 on the main island of Java.
