XEL is officially the worst Switch game of 2022, according to Metacritic

It’s time again when Metacritic aired its “Game of the Year” nominations by releasing its list of the worst games ever released.

On the Switch front, the worst game of the year goes to Zelda-style sci-fi adventure title, XEL. It debuted on the platform in July of this year, and according to Metacritic’s scoring system (which requires a nominated game to have at least seven professional reviews), it’s the fourth worst game overall of 2022. The Switch version of Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition was also in Tenth place.

Games are rated by Metascore (as of December 12, 2022) before rounding, and any titles with less than 7 reviews from professional critics are excluded. (In other words, these bad games are all big enough to get reviews from multiple publications.) If One title had made it to the list so many times because of low scores on more than one platform, we only included the lowest-scoring version.”

XEL

A 3D, open-world platformer set in a mysterious world that blends sci-fi and fantasy elements, Xel might get a few points from the visuals and its original story. But don’t mistake Xel for Zelda: the former is very unpolished and it’s frustrating that few of players would enjoy playing it. And the problems aren’t just on Switch: the PC version received similarly poor reviews.”

Blade Runner: Enhanced version

An “improved” port of a fairly good 1997 sci-fi adventure game set in the same universe as the first Blade Runner movie, this edit wasn’t quite the success of the original. In fact, it wasn’t even as good as a non-port. Official released for PC a few years back. Critics and users have complained about the new graphics and many glitches. “
