A boy was killed in Montpellier, amid clashes between fans of France and Morocco in the city after the World Cup semi-finals.
A statement from the local government office said the boy was “violently hit by a car” in the city in southern France on Wednesday.
Herault’s administration said he was taken to hospital, but died shortly after arrival.
The car was found near the scene of the accident and the police are investigating.
Earlier, the French national team secured its place in the World Cup in Qatar, after defeating Morocco 2-0.
Video shared on social media shows crowds in the street swarming around a car being driven erratically.
Earlier, rival fans also clashed in Paris after the match. Riot police were called in to disperse the crowd.
