A leading private school has apologized after pupils performed the Sieg Heil salute during a play about Adolf Hitler.
The incident at Millfield School in Somerset, which charges up to £14,610 for a boarding term, came hours before the start of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
The play, Adolf, features actor and playwright Pip Utton in front of a large Nazi flag while dressed as a dictator. Otton, who had previously taken the show to the Edinburgh Fringe, said he “manipulated” the children at the end of the show, to show “how easy it is”.
The father of a Jewish student said he was horrified to see pictures of students in the audience laughing during a Nazi performance
