The US Geological Survey reported a 5.3-magnitude earthquake near Midland, Texas, on Friday evening.
It was felt as far away as Roswell, Hobbs, and Ruidso, New Mexico.
Roswell police spokesman Todd Wildermuth said the dispatch had received several calls about the quake.
Several earthquakes were felt in western Texas last month in southern New Mexico.
