This victory is Argentina’s third World Cup victory and the first since 1986, when legend Diego Maradona led the team to victory in Mexico.

“It’s crazy that it became this way,” Messi said after his historic victory.

He continued, “I missed this so much. I knew God would bring this gift to me. I just had a feeling that was the thing.”

It was a special moment for Messi and the heartbreak of teammate Kylian Mbappe who fought to the end, in a match already being described as one of the greatest finals in history.
