If Samsung follows its usual annual launch cycle, it seems almost certain that the new Galaxy S23 will be revealed sometime in February. This is the month the Korean tech giant favors when it unveils its latest and greatest flagship to the world and there is no indication that 2023 will stir up any surprises. It looks like the Galaxy S23 lineup is set to offer some big improvements over the current Galaxy S22 lineup as these upgraded devices are expected to get better screens, improved cameras, and longer battery life.
Although not officially confirmed by Samsung, the Galaxy S23 can also only be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip with owners all over the world raving about this ultra-fast processor. Qualcomm has teased this news on numerous occasions over the past few months, and if it’s true, it’s a huge shift as previous Galaxy devices have been split between the brains of Qualcomm and Samsung’s Exynos depending on which region you buy them in.
We hope to find out a full launch date in the coming weeks, but one of Samsung’s competitors has beaten them by already announcing when it will unveil its first flagship in 2023.
OnePlus is clearly trying to get ahead in the Android wars with the Chinese brand revealing that it will be launching its latest device, the OnePlus 11 5G, on February 7 at a global event in New Delhi, India.
While the full specifications were kept under wraps until the big event, OnePlus teased the return of two popular features to the brand. First, the OnePlus 11 5G will, once again, have a camera powered by the experts at Hasselblad.
This was a popular feature of the brand but has been dramatically dropped on some OnePlus 10 models.
Now, those photographic enhancements are back with OnePlus promising that it will provide a “new quality of realism in smartphone photography.”
Along with the camera update, OnePlus also says it will bring back the iconic notification bar that makes it easy to switch from silent mode to vibrate to ring. This was another popular feature that was dropped from the latest devices and fans will definitely welcome its return.
“We are excited to unveil these exciting new products that bring a fast and seamless experience to the market,” said Pete Lau, Founder of OnePlus, Senior Vice President and Head of Product at OPPO and OnePlus. “OnePlus 11 5G, OnePlus Buds Pro 2, and other products are driven by our community creativity spirit and will be packed with the latest technologies to provide a superior experience for our users.”
With OnePlus confirming its launch and Samsung expected to announce a release date soon, it could be an exciting start to 2023 for Android fans.
