3.1 earthquake in San Leandro
A 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck the East Bay near Lake Chabot Wednesday morning.
SAN LANDREW, Calif. – The Bay Area was rocked by an earthquake Wednesday morning.
The USGS first reported that a 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck northeast of San Leandro around 8:34 a.m., however, the USGS later downgraded the quake to 2.9. The epicenter was under I-580, near Chabot Lake.
It comes after the 6.4-magnitude earthquake rocked Ferndale early Tuesday. The explosion killed two people, caused gas to leak, glass shattered, power outages for thousands, a winding highway, and a tense population lived through dozens of aftershocks.
Many called KTVU to say they felt the shaking in San Leandro and the surrounding areas.
