Headsville, California –

A 4.2-magnitude earthquake rocked Northern California on Christmas Eve, authorities said, in the same county where a major quake a few days earlier killed two people and caused widespread damage.

The quake occurred at 11:33 a.m. Saturday and was centered about 5 miles (8 kilometers) east of Headsville and 6.5 miles (10.46 kilometers) from Rio Del in Humboldt County, according to the US Geological Survey.

No damages or injuries were reported.

Rio Del was the epicenter of a 6.4-magnitude earthquake on Tuesday that killed two people, injured more than a dozen others, shook homes from their foundations, destroyed water systems and left tens of thousands without power, some for more than a day.
