President Putin has promised increased military cooperation with China as the two countries strengthen an alliance against perceived Western dominance on the world stage.
“We aim to strengthen cooperation between the armed forces of Russia and China,” the Russian president told Xi in a video call this morning.
The Russian president made it clear that the goal is to resist the influence of the United States and European allies such as Britain.
Russia’s Interfax news agency quoted Putin as saying, “We share the same view on the causes, course and logic of the continuous transformation of the global geopolitical landscape.”
Putin called his Chinese counterpart a “dear friend” and said the ties between the two countries were “a model of cooperation between big business”.
