DELHI-NCR: A 3.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Delhi in the early hours of Sunday (January 1), according to the National Center of Seismology (NCS).

NCS is the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring earthquake activity in the country. According to the center’s readings, a magnitude 3.8 earthquake occurred in northwestern Haryana state at Jhagar at around 1:19 am on Sunday. The depth of the earthquake was 5 kilometers underground.

“Magnitude 3.8 earthquake, occurred on 01-01-2023, 01:19:42 IST, Latitude: 28.71, Long: 76.62, Depth: 5 km, Location: 12 km NW of Jjar, Haryana,” the National Seismological Center said.

Earlier on November 12, tremors were felt across Delhi NCR. According to the National Center of Seismology (NCS), the November 12 earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale that occurred in Nepal, at approximately 7:57 pm.

“The depth of the earthquake was 10 kilometers underground,” the NCS said.
