Last day for World Darts is here and hello and welcome to the PDC
Ally Pally’s World Darts Championship Final!
And it will be Michael van Gerwen vs. Michael Smith in a repeat of the 2019 appearance. MVG won the match 7-3, and reached the final this year after beating Dimitri van den Berg 6-0 in the semi-final last night. While Michael Smith defeated German giant Gabriel Clemens 6-2 to reach his third World Darts Championship final.
Besides losing to Van Gerwen four years ago, Smith was also in last year’s final but lost to Peter Wright.
After his semi-final victory, Smith said: “I banned my kids today because they kept me out. But they’re coming back for the final.”
“Before the final, I’ll lie in bed all day and watch episodes of Catchphrase. Every morning, I watch them — there’s nothing else on TV at that time.
“It’s my third World Finals in five years, I have to keep going.”
While Van Gerwen said after his dominant semi-final victory: “Michael Smith won’t stop me – nobody’s going to stop me.
“I feel good, I’m comfortable, I play darts well and the fans definitively deserve a final like this.”
