A personal trainer from west London was shot 12 times in the head and chest while on holiday with a friend in Jamaica, his devastated family claim.

Speaking to ITV News London, Shaun Patterson’s father says his son was killed days after arriving in the Caribbean outside a guesthouse in St James’s.

The trip was the 33-year-old’s first to Jamaica where he was planning to celebrate the New Year.

“I’m trying to process this. I’m a Jamaican dad, I’ve been to Jamaica, the whole family has gone to Jamaica,” said Sean’s father Alan Patterson.

We want justice, we want justice, he deserves justice because he was somebody.

His name was Sean Alan Patterson, and he was loved by all the people in West London – and everywhere he went he was loved.

“He had this behavior that got people hooked and they took that light away from us.”

He added, “Shawn, rest in peace, please do son and whoever is responsible let them pay for we are all grieving – his three brothers, his four sisters, his mother, his grandfather.”

Sean left for Jamaica after celebrating Christmas in London with his family. He was also planning to marry his long term girlfriend.

Jamaican police said he was found dead around noon Monday in Bog Hill.

The Jamaica Police Force said officers from the Montego Bay Police Department had received reports that Sean was standing by the pool of the guest house where he was staying when witnesses heard “explosions”.

Mr. Patterson was taken to the hospital but could not get up.

According to local media, a 34-year-old man was arrested.

Alan Patterson added: “It’s tragic, I can’t believe it.

“He left here just after Christmas and we’re not going to spend another one [together] Again, it hurts.

“The reports we are getting, my son was outside and the other friends are inside. My son was shot outside.

“The whole picture of this is a bit patchy and there are many stories so we don’t have a complete idea of what happened except for Shawn being shot a few times.”

Sean’s family said their priority now was to bring his body back to London.
