An independent bookstore window display of Prince Harry’s memoir has set social media on fire.
Staff at Bert’s Books in Swindon Spear showed alongside Bella Mackie’s novel How to Kill Your Family in a “half-hearted” nod to his allegations against the royal family.
Harry’s controversial book went on sale across the UK on Tuesday, and some queued all night to get their hands on a copy.
Bert’s Books was one of the places to offer die-hard readers and royal fans the chance to purchase the book, tweeting: “Anyway, we have some Spear backups if you want one.”
Along with the message, there was a picture of the display showing copies of the spare parts next to Macy’s book.
Twitter users took to the comments section to respond to the post, with responses including, “Who will sue HRH first or Ms. Mackie?” and “signed?” , which the person managing the library account makes sure to reply to.
To the person who asked if the book was autographed, they said: “Not by him, but I can sign if I wanted” and to the user who posted about who would sue first – “We just put our bestsellers in a window… people do all kinds of Wild assumptions and connections” next to an upside down face emoji.
Alex Call, 35, owner of Bert’s Books, said: “(How to Kill Your Family) was already in our window because it was our bestselling book of 2022.
“Then when we saw it there, we thought it would be funny to put him next to Speer and he would be so cute and make some people smile.”
He added that there was “little interest” from people to get the book, with very little of it being sold.

Ms Mackey responded to the post on Instagram.
“Thanks to the 8,000 people who messaged me today. And thanks, @bertsbooks, what an honor,” she wrote, followed by a knife emoji.

How To Kill Your Family follows protagonist Grace Bernard, 28, who is trying to take down her entire family to take revenge on her father, who abandoned her and her mother when she was a child.
The author’s husband — radio host Greg James — also retweeted the post from Bert’s Books on his Twitter account.
