The former CFO of Donald Trump’s sprawling business empire has been sentenced to five months in prison for tax fraud, which prosecutors said lasted 13 years.
Allen Weisselberg, 75, was expected to report to New York’s notorious Rikers Island prison tonight to begin his sentence.
The CEO was the prosecution’s star witness in the case against the former president’s company, which includes ownership deals, licensing and media operations.
In exchange for a relatively light sentence, Weisselberg pleaded guilty in August to 15 felonies in a plea deal with prosecutors.
The arrangement required him to testify truthfully at the Trump Organization trial, pay $2 million in back taxes and waive any right of appeal. He will probably spend about 100
