The USGS announced the detection of a 1.2-magnitude earthquake about 4 miles southeast of Mountain View and 6 miles south-southeast of Hickory.
The USGS article calls earthquakes of magnitude less than 2 microquakes that “are not usually felt by people and are only recorded on local seismographs.”
