Portuguese striker Joao Felix will be part of Chelsea’s squad for the remainder of the season, having moved to Stamford Bridge on loan from Atletico Madrid.
The 23-year-old previously played for Benfica in his home country before making the move to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2019, for a record fee for both clubs.
A skilful and elegant striker, Joao Felix is most effective when cruising seamlessly through the attacking line and involving himself in team play.
On his loan move to Chelsea, Joao Felix said: ‘Chelsea are one of the best teams in the world and I hope to help the team achieve their goals, so I’m very happy to be here and very excited to play at Stamford Bridge.’
Joao Félix was part of the Atlético team that won the La Liga title two seasons ago, and as a teenager at Benfica he was also the league champion, in his first season.
In addition to team glory, the Portugal international has also been rewarded individually, being honored with the 2019 Golden Boy Award as the best young player in Europe. He was also named Atleti’s Player of the Year last season by the club’s supporters.
At the FIFA World Cup Qatar, João Félix scored a vital goal in Portugal’s opening match, a 3-2 win over Ghana and provided two assists throughout the tournament. He already has 28 caps to his name.
Welcome to Chelsea, Joao!
