Manchester City’s shock defeat in the Carabao Cup against Southampton will be a huge boost for Premier League rivals Arsenal and local rivals Manchester United.
That is the view of TalkSPORT’s Adrian Durham, who described City as “extremely beatable” after losing 2-0 in the quarter-finals to St Mary’s.

Pep Guardiola’s men looked like a shell for the team that knocked out Chelsea in successive matches.
Even City failed to score a single shot on goal against the Saints, despite the likes of Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish appearing.
And Durham indicated that Arsenal will be given more hope that it can beat City for its first league title since 2004, as it moves away from them by five points.
Meanwhile, Durham believe United will now enjoy Saturday’s Manchester derby, with Marcus Rashford swinging in to meet them.
Speaking about the suspension following City’s defeat, he said: “City now go into the derby live on talkSPORT on Saturday.
“I suspect [City’s defeat to Southampton ] It would give Arsenal a lot of confidence in terms of, “Can they go on and win the Premier League?”

“They’ll look at this and say, ‘City are definitely beatable.’” Are they [City] Are they really going to win the rest of their games?
Are they going to continue that run that everyone seems to think they are going to do?
“So Arsenal will take some confidence, but in terms of the Manchester derby at the weekend, Manchester United will take confidence from that as well.
“I think Marcus Rashford will rub his hands with the form he is in.”

Stuart Pearce added: “He certainly will. United now have the chance to go and claim some silverware this year that at times in recent history seemed a mile away.”
“But they go in as favorites now with the remaining teams – there’s no disrespect for others.
“But for sure, it couldn’t have been a better result for Manchester United with City going and being beaten, everything is set for Saturday, it’s a very nice game.”
Guardiola had no complaints about the result, insisting Nathan Jones’ men deserved their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “The better team won. We didn’t play well and we didn’t play well at the start.
“There are so many games you can’t start well and beat and we haven’t done that.
“When you’re not ready to play this game, you arrive an inch late and don’t score. When you’re ready, you score.
“Today was a bad night, the opponents were better so we have to congratulate them.

City is in the midst of a tough run of matches, as the club hosts Tottenham Hotspur after their trip to Old Trafford.
They would then welcome Arsenal to the Etihad in the fourth round of the FA Cup at the end of January, before kicking off February with another match against Tottenham.
They then traveled again to London on 15 February to face Arsenal in the first Premier League meeting between the two this season.
