Floodbreakers have been put in place in Ironbridge, as well as in Shrewsbury town centre
In Shrewsbury, temporary flood barriers will remain in place in Francwell until further notice, while defenses were also installed at Colham Head yesterday as experts and council leaders expect river levels to remain high over the weekend.
Shropshire Council said that in addition to the county’s yellow warning of rain, which runs until midday today, the River Severn peaks from rain that fell upstream in its catchment areas on Wednesday and Thursday were still waiting to pass.

The Met Office’s rain warning went into effect at 9 p.m. last night, and remains in effect until midday.
In the warning, meteorologists said that occasional periods of heavy rain will move from the southwest.
“20 to 30 mm of precipitation is likely to be very extensive with 40 to 50 mm on some hills. With already very wet conditions, this is likely to cause some flooding,” the warning says.
The Met Office is forecasting rain and any associated strong easterly winds during the day.
The warning covers the western fringes of the county, as well as all of Wales.
