Romanian authorities confiscated several luxury cars from the villa of influencer Andrew Tate as part of a criminal investigation into allegations of people smuggling that led to his arrest.

The cars, which included a Rolls-Royce and a BMW, were removed from Villa Tate in Voluntari on the outskirts of Bucharest and taken by police to a secret warehouse.

He was arrested in the capital on December 29 on charges of belonging to an organized criminal group, human trafficking and rape.

His brother Tristan and two Roman women were also arrested. They have denied any wrongdoing.

The 36-year-old British-American national has 4.4 million followers on Twitter and was previously banned from several prominent social media platforms for expressing misogynist views and hate speech.

Earlier this week, prosecutors said they seized 15 luxury cars and more than 10 properties and homes belonging to the suspects to prevent the assets from being sold or hidden.

The Romanian police also carried out raids on several homes as part of their investigation.

On Tuesday, Tate lost an appeal against his continued detention in Romania.

The four suspects appealed against their 30-day arrest warrant, but the Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected the appeal and said they should remain in police custody.

Tate and the other three suspects are arrested by Romanian organized crime prosecutors on charges of forming a criminal syndicate to sexually exploit six women.

Prosecutors said the Tate brothers recruited their victims by seducing them and falsely claiming they wanted a relationship.

Tate, the former Big Brother contestant, has reportedly been living in Romania since 2017.

His lawyer could not be reached for comment.
