The Met Office has revealed the exact dates when snow is expected to sweep the UK with temperatures dropping to -6C.

The first cold snap of 2023 is set to hit Scotland with meteorologists at the Met Office predicting ‘wintery’ conditions.

Temperatures here drop to minus 3 on Sunday and Monday – but conditions will be largely dry.

Aidan McGivern, a meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “The jet stream is approaching the UK from the west and is sending us more low pressure areas, with tightly packed isobars across the UK. This continues to be the case as pressure systems deepen. the other low and are sent from the west.

“It will continue to be stormy, with some strong storms in the west in particular and these dips will continue to send outbreaks of showers and rain into the weekend. The Met Office shared its forecast covering Tuesday, January 17 through January 26. The Met Agency said: “Tuesday will see continued bouts of sunshine and winter rain in many central and northern regions, with an area of ​​rain, sleet and snow possibly affecting some of southern Britain for some time, and winds in the southwest with a chance of wind here.

“Beyond the week, cooler weather is expected to continue than it has been recently, with overnight frosts and some winter rain and snow. However, as time goes on, there are signs that it will turn milder again. As the weather systems act from the west, which leads to more rain, especially in the west and northwest, and may be preceded by snow at first, along with the possibility of winds or strong winds at times.
