Madeline played Dione ‘Dee’ Bliss and Andrea Somers on and off the hit Aussie soap from 2000 to 2020.
She hid her painful secret for decades – but now reveals that she was abused as a little girl.
The actress described her attacker as a “monster”, revealing that they live in the same town.
She told News Corp.
She can’t reveal more details about the attacks, but she’s now talking about her quest to help other survivors.
“Now I am looking for justice,” she said.
“Anyone out there posting, watching, or harming a child, your time is up.
“The wheel is turning.”
Madeline – who starred in The Condemned – has now joined forces with former detective Gary Jubelin.
And they’ve launched a new podcast called Predatory to highlight the issue of child sexual abuse.
In the eight-part series, which launches today, they are calling for a public national child sex registry for Australia.
They will campaign to change the laws to compensate the victims fairly.
They also talk with investigators of child sex crimes and explore how the face of pedophiles and molesters has changed, especially with new challenges online.
“Pedophiles are exceptionally calculating and will get what they want,” Madeline said.
“People are constantly going the other way. It is very hard to believe that the perpetrators are so close to their inner circle.”
She said perpetrators usually convince their victims that they are the ones to blame.
It’s all part of their controlling nature to get what they want and avoid detection.
“We believe what they say is true even when our instincts say otherwise,” she said.
To combat this, she is determined not to take risks with her six children, which means being present on playground trips and birthday parties.
“This monster has ruined my life,” said Ms. West.
“I came out the other side, yes a survivor but happy to own the title of victim.”
Justice can be done. It never was, and never will be, your fault, you are not to blame.”
Ms West said the subject of pedophilia and pedophilia was difficult and uncomfortable.
She added that it’s easier for a lot of people to look the other way and pretend it doesn’t happen.
Joplin said there are steps everyone can take to help prevent child sexual abuse and keep children safe.
“To fight any kind of crime, you have to create a safe environment in which crime does not thrive,” Joplin said.
