A woman who was hacked to death in Surrey yelled at a passerby to “go back” as she was attacked by several dogs, a witness said.
Paramedics were unable to save the 28-year-old from London after she was attacked in Gravelly Hill, Caterham on Thursday afternoon.
A total of eight dogs have been detained by Surrey Police at the scene and detectives are keeping their owners updated on the latest developments. No arrests have been made.
Sue Dove, an eyewitness to the attack, recalls the terrifying moment when she saw the woman being attacked by “multiple dogs”.
She told Sky News: “She yelled at us to get back up and with that, two loose dogs ran at us and the horses, and my horse spun and went off and I finally fell over.”

She added, “(I feel) sad that a woman lost her life, but frustrated people can walk many dogs.
“This lady was clearly out of control for whatever reason, as she fell to the ground and was attacked.
On account of those consequences and dogs running towards us, my horse sprang off and I fell off my horse, landing on my right side, on my rib and hip.
“Fortunately, my horse eventually stopped and my friend was able to get to it. Otherwise, as flying animals, this would have been another terrible accident if it had continued.”
Richard Bream, who runs a nearby kennel, said he had never heard of a dog attack in the area.
Adding, “This particular area, point of view, is an area where professional dog walkers will come in their truck and take the dogs outside and lead them around.
“I always felt like you see some dog walkers have five or six people, and they shouldn’t be able to do that.”
Surrey Police said none of the dogs seized had been culled.
Inspector Lindsey Whatley, the town chief in Tandridge, said on Friday: “This is a tragic incident in which a young woman sadly lost her life and our thoughts are with her family and friends.
“I know yesterday’s events will be of real concern to the local community and I would like to reassure residents that we are confident that all dogs involved are in police custody while we investigate the circumstances of what happened.
“Officers will remain in the Gravelly Hill area today while inquiries continue, and if you have any information but have not yet spoken to police, please contact us.”
