He committed the crime in April of that year. Gordon armed himself with garden shears and a kitchen knife, then attacked his neighbor in a four-and-a-half-hour ordeal that saw him take her hostage and sexually assault her, the Daily Mail reports.

The newspaper said that two children were sleeping in the next room at the time of the attack.

Constance Martin, 35, is the great-granddaughter of Mary Anna Martin, curator of the British Museum whose godmother was the late Queen Mother, and who owned the Chrichell Estate in Dorset.
