Trossard is ‘undergoing treatment at Arsenal’ as Arteta faces a race against time before facing Manchester United

Brighton striker Leandro Trossard will see his doctor at London Colney on Friday morning ahead of his £27m move to Arsenal, according to reports.

Trossard recently fell out with Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi and was not included in Italy’s squad against Liverpool last weekend.

The Belgium international then made it clear he wanted a move this month with Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea starting.

However, the player only wanted a move to the Emirates after Tottenham reportedly made a humiliating £12m bid, Daniel Levy clearly smelling a deal given the striker’s status at AMEX.

Fabrizio Romano revealed Thursday morning that Arsenal are in advanced talks with Brighton about signing Trossard.

Hours later Romano said “here we go” with an announcement from Arsenal expected very soon.

Mikel Arteta was very keen to bolster his attack and made Mykhailo Modric his first target before he joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Trossard is a very powerful add-on at an affordable price. He has scored seven Premier League goals this season and netted a hat-trick against Liverpool at Anfield in October.

The 24-cap Belgium striker will provide excellent depth across the front line as he can play on the left, right or through the middle.

With Arsenal in a great position to win the Premier League this season, Trossard is a smart signing as he brings depth and experience to the Premier League while he is in his early years.

On Friday morning, Romano provided another update, saying that “contracts and documents” are now being “exchanged.”

The Italian journalist added that his medical treatment will be completed soon.

Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas says the medical will take place on Friday morning.

Arteta will be very keen to finish his medical as soon as possible as Trossard will need to register by 12pm if he can play against Manchester United on Sunday.

While Trossard obviously wouldn’t start against the Red Devils if he was scored at the right time, he could potentially be used off the bench.

In Arsenal’s last top-of-the-table encounter at the Emirates, a 0-0 draw against Newcastle United, Arteta’s options off the bench were very limited and the only change he made was to bring in defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Arteta has been boosted by the returning Emile Smith Rowe, who can also play in a variety of positions.

It is not clear whether or not the Spaniard will be chasing another player before the winter transfer window closes.

There’s clearly plenty of money in the bank after an offer of up to £88m was made for Modric.

On top of that, Arsenal made three bids to sign Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz on deadline day last summer, so Arteta clearly feels he needs to go deeper into the middle of the park.

Midfielder Thomas Partey has struggled to stay in shape since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2021, but has avoided injury so far this season.

The Ghanaian has been stunning this term, and should he get injured, Arsenal could be absolutely fantastic.

The drop in quality is alarming, and while Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga are respected players, they don’t hold a candle to Partey.
