Fighter jets escorted a Ryanair flight from Poland to Athens after a bomb threat.

Flight FR6385 from Katowice in Poland has landed at El. Venizelos, Greece earlier this evening.

A Boeing 737-800 was seen parked in a remote area of the airport after the pilot reported a serious threat during flight.

An airport spokesperson said that “all people are safe and sound,” AirLive reported.

Hungarian fighter planes rushed to intercept the plane until it reached North Macedonia.

F-16 fighter jets from the Hellenic Air Force then escorted the plane until it landed in Athens.

The Greek News Agency reported that the plane was surrounded by police and firefighters after it landed in a remote part of the airport and was searched by the bomb squad.

The passengers were removed from the plane and searched, as well as their baggage and the plane itself.

The Greek Defense Ministry said the plane was intercepted by Greek fighter jets as it entered Greek airspace over North Macedonia.

It is unclear where the bomb threat came from, but it is believed to have been made shortly after the plane left Poland.

RyanAir has been contacted for comment.
