Lisa Marie Presley, singer-songwriter, best known for being the only child of Elvis Presley, died of cardiac arrest on January 12, 2023, at the age of 54 in her rented home in California.

This former home was where her son, Benjamin Keough, tragically committed suicide at the age of 27. She had purchased the property next door, a 3,582-square-foot estate with five bedrooms and four bathrooms for $1.8 million four months before her son’s tragic death.

Calabasas itself is located in the southwestern region of the San Fernando Valley, and has a population of approximately 23,240. Just 31 miles from Downton Los Angeles, it’s popular with commuters.

The origin of the city’s name is disputed. Some claim that it comes from the Spanish word calabazas, which means “winter squash,” while other historians claim that it comes from the Chumash word calahosa, which means “where the wild geese fly.” In past centuries the area was home to Chumash Native Americans.

The Warner Bros. ranch was once located where the Calabasas Park Golf Club is now located, and movies like Showboat and Carousel were filmed there.

The area is perhaps best known for its famous residents, which include the Kardashian and Jenner families. Youtuber Jake Paul lives in the area, as do actor and comedian Ken Jeong and William T.
