Early morning earthquake in Malibu Beach

A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Malibu Beach early Wednesday with reports reaching Lombok.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) reports that the quake occurred 10 miles south of shore at 2:03 a.m.

The “Did You Feel It” report by USGS shows reports as far north as Lompoc, south into San Diego, and east into Palmdale.

A 1.6-magnitude aftershock was reported in the same area at 10:07 a.m. and a 2.1-magnitude earthquake struck east of Santa Barbara in the Mojave Desert at 11:26 a.m. on Wednesday.
