Everton: Sean Dyche expected to be appointed manager after winning the race to succeed Frank Lampard | football news

Sean Dyche is expected to be appointed Everton manager on Friday.

Former Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa and Daichy held talks with the club on Thursday, with the former seen in London for negotiations with the Everton board.

But the former Burnley manager appears to have won the race to succeed Frank Lampard at Goodison Park.

Bielsa was the preferred choice for Everton owner Farhad Moshiri, but the cost of including the Argentine boss meant a deal was a hard sell.

Bielsa and his back-up staff were likely to cost Everton up to £1m a month – a figure that would cover all members of the manager’s support staff.

Bielsa’s own negotiating style has him asking for a large fee which he then distributes to his coaching staff, which comes as a non-negotiable part of the package.

It is understood there are concerns among Everton bosses about the cost of making such sweeping changes to the structure of their coaching squad.

Although Bielsa was their first target, the Toffees board wanted a manager with Premier League experience, which is why they turned to Dyche.
