Eva Green ‘has nothing against peasants’ but fears making ‘very dangerous’ film

“I have nothing against the peasants,” she told the court on Monday, “I didn’t want to work with a substandard crew. I wanted to work with a quality crew who just wanted to be paid at standard industry rates.”

The actress is suing production company White Lantern Film, claiming to be owed $1 million (£810,000) in fees for the abandoned project, despite it being cancelled.

In contrast, White Lantern files a counterclaim against Ms. Green claiming that she undermined its production, made “excessive creative and financial demands” and had expectations “incompatible” with the project’s low budget.

On Monday, the actress also cited Alec Baldwin’s deadlift on-set shooting of a cinematographer as he gave evidence of the “extremely dangerous” stunt training she received for the film.

She referred to the death of Helena Hutchins last October on the set of Rust while revealing the producers cut her rehearsal time from four weeks to five days.

Ms Green said: “You can’t make a quality movie by cutting corners.

“Look what happened with Alec Baldwin on Rust, the producers were cutting corners, there were no security measures and a young woman was murdered.”

Hutchins, 42, was killed and director Joel Sousa injured in October 2021, when Baldwin’s gun during a training for Westerns in the New Mexico desert fired a gunshot.

Baldwin now faces five years in prison after being charged with the fatal shooting in what his lawyers said earlier this month was a “terrible miscarriage of justice.”
