Former Poldark star Aidan Turner says the actors should maintain an “air of mystery” about their private lives.
The 39-year-old actor told Sky News that he has rejected social media because it makes life “a little bit harder”.
He said, “I don’t have social media, I don’t have Twitter.”
“If you’re very exposed and everyone knows intricate details about your personal life, it gets a little more difficult. Some air of mystery might be a good thing with the cast.”

The Irish actor’s comments come as he takes to the stage at the play Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons in London’s West End.
He stars alongside former Doctor Who companion Jenna Coleman in the Sam Steiner play.
The play is set against a new law that introduces a daily limit of 140 words per person – inspired by the old character limit on Twitter.
The relationship between the two main characters becomes strained when they are faced with the challenge of where they use the daily allotment of words in their lives.
“Sometimes it’s a good thing that maybe they don’t have enough words for the fight they might be about to get into, and other times you can see the frustration with their inability to articulate exactly what they want to say,” Turner said. .
But one area of his private life that he’s willing to open up about is the sleepless nights as a new dad.

“When you do movie or TV stuff, you’re telling a very small part of the story every day. You can do two, three, four pages of dialogue but obviously with exposition, you tell the whole story from start to finish every night and you’ll feel that with the audience.” .
Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons runs at London’s Harold Pinter Theater until March 18th, Manchester Opera House from March 21st to March 25th and Brighton’s Theater Royal from March 28th to April 1st.
