If you’re only a PlayStation owner, you’ll want big things from The Crew Motorfest, which Ubisoft officially announced for PS5 and PS4 earlier today. Set for release in 2023, the open-world arcade racer will return to the series’ roots, meaning the aquatic and aerial specials from its predecessor seem to have come out. The focus this time is on four wheels, although there will be a lot of variety: from sports cars to sports cars, there is a lot to look forward to. Could the PS5 and PS4 finally have a rival to Forza Horizon?
“The Crew Motorfest has settled in one of the most picturesque and vibrant places on earth: the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian archipelago,” the press release reads. “This is the perfect playground for players to have fun with their vehicles: racing through the city streets of Honolulu, descending into the ash volcano slopes, venturing deep into lush rainforest, drifting along winding mountain roads, or just relaxing on a sunny beach.”
The Insider Program will be open starting February 1st, and you can register your interest here. “This closed testing, which is divided into different phases, will help the development team gather feedback to ensure the optimal player experience at launch and beyond,” the publicist explains. “The first phase of the Insider Program will be limited to PCs in order to allow for rapid iteration. During the final stages, this closed testing will open up to consoles.”
There’s no firm release date at the moment, but as indicated, the title will be released later this year – and will only expand beyond launch. “Motorfest will allow car enthusiasts to fulfill their driving bucket list through a series of tailor-made races, themed events, and other unique challenges,” says the French publisher. “Whatever your favorite style of car, The Crew Motorfest has something for everyone.”
We’re big fans of bright and cute arcade racers, but we’re experiencing a dreadful lack of supply on PS5 and PS4. Hopefully, this one will scratch that itch once and for all.
