Morning football fans
Chelsea’s British record deal for Enzo Fernandez and the onset of Manchester United’s loan to Marcel Sabitzer came late at eleven o’clock!
The two biggest signings of crazy deadline day are done after midnight.
Argentine champions Benfica have arrived at Stamford Bridge for £106m on an 8.5-year deal.
And fellow midfielder Sabitzer will remain at Old Trafford until the summer after a back-and-forth half-season for parent club Bayern Munich.
“From the moment I heard about this opportunity, I knew it was right for me,” said the Austrian.
It came after Arsenal’s surprise – but smoother – £12m takeover of Chelsea’s Jorginho.
The Premier League leaders’ Coppa Italia is providing much-needed cover for key midfielders Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka.
Bottom of the Premier League Southampton brought in Ghanaian winger Rennes Kamal Eddine Suleiman for £22m, as well as Genk striker Paul Onuachu.
Tottenham have confirmed Pedro Boris, right-back, has moved to Sporting Lisbon on loan with an option to buy at £40m.
But the busiest club was certainly Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey and Atletico Madrid defender Felipe attended for an undisclosed fee, as well as Paris Saint-Germain’s Keylor Navas, 36, as loan cover for injured goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
