An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 struck the Kermadec Islands region of New Zealand on Saturday, the US Geological Survey said.
The US Geological Survey said the quake occurred at a depth of 152 km.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center earlier estimated the magnitude at 6.6 and the depth at 183 km.
The US Tsunami Warning System said no tsunami warning was issued after the quake.
